Hernando Porto Obituary, Hernando Porto has passed Away

Hernando Porto Death, Obituary – Hernando E. Porto passed away on January 5, 2023 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, Tennessee. He was 88 years old and lived in Somerville, Tennessee. He was the spouse of Neila Cepeda Porto. Hernando Porto was able to fulfil his lifelong desire of travelling the world and making friends wherever he went by visiting places as diverse as the beaches of Cartagena, Colombia, the deserts of Saudi Arabia, and many more locations in between. Hernando Porto was the fourth of six sons that Donaldo and Carlota Porto had. He was born on February 4, 1934 in Cartagena, Colombia.

He was well-known for his kind and generous nature, as well as his charmingly mischievous sense of humour and his stunning green eyes. In the beginning of 1957, he was there, and it was there that he met the woman who would later become his wife, Neila Cepeda. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary not too long ago. In 1966, they uprooted their family and headed west to Houston, Texas, taking their eldest daughter Lidia with them. Alexandra, who would become their second daughter, was born in 1970. Since that time, they have established roots in Colombia, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, the state of Texas, and the state of Tennessee.

He has taken his family on a trip around the world, during which they have visited dozens of nations across continents like Europe, Asia, the Middle East, South America, and Central America.
When Hernando relocated to a new city, one of the first things he did was investigate the possibility of becoming a volunteer there. In addition to his many other contributions to the community, he worked as a volunteer in schools, where he read to students, translated for law enforcement, emergency responders, and the courts, mentored and supported families in need, and served on the Foster Care Review Board. He also brought communion to the homebound and elderly residents of nursing homes.

He let his strongly held religious beliefs and the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ to direct him in everything he did. Because of his easygoing personality, thoughtfulness, and wacky sense of humour, many members of Hernando’s enormous extended family regard him as their favourite uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, godparent, and so on. His family is very large. He is well-known and well-liked all around the world. His favourite quote was, “A stranger is just a buddy I haven’t met yet,” and it applied to everyone he encountered. Hernando leaves behind two grandkids, Amanda Raquelle Wardlaw and Mateo Mpinduzi-Mott, in addition to his wife and two daughters.

His grandson Daniel Joseph “Joey” Wardlaw, who he named after himself, passed away before him.
