Bruce Ikeda Obituary, Death – After just been diagnosed with cancer, Bruce Ikeda passed died suddenly in the Palo Alto Veterans Administration Hospital. It was just recently that he started having trouble with the sickness. It had been some time since he had been a patient there. He graduated from San Jose’s Lincoln High School, served in the U.S. Army, and then spent the better part of three decades at the Mayfair/Sun Garden Packing Company. During that period, he was given several opportunities to advance in the company.
A longtime member of the Nisei Leagues, he bowled at Fiesta Lanes, Oakridge Lanes, and 4th Street Bowl. In the wake of their parents’ deaths, the Ikeda family was reduced to only three members: son Bruce Kirk Ikeda of San Jose, daughter Kristine Ikeda Tokunaga (Ron) of San Diego, and grandson Sean Minoru Tokunaga. His sisters Sumi Nakamura of Monterey, Sachi Ikeda of San Jose, and Kaz Nose of San Jose survive him as well.
These days, his sibling sistas are all based out of San Jose. Sus Ikeda (Sadako), his brother, lives in Santa Clara and is among many who will miss him dearly. The people he loved most in the world had already left him: his wife, Lillie Yuriko Ikeda; his parents, Isao and Masa Ikeda; his brother, Joe Ikeda (Chiye); and his brothers-in-law, Kei Nakamura and Henry Nose. The only member of his family still alive is his son Joe Ikeda (Chiye).
Both of his parents were born and raised in Japan, so they could speak the language fluently. Everyone who was lucky enough to call Min a friend will miss him deeply. Everyone greatly mourns Min’s departure. For the entirety of his life, he was someone’s husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, friend, and likely many other things as well. In addition to these primary duties, he also fulfilled those of friend and brother-in-law. Every one of these endeavors brought him great fortune. The funeral services were restricted to only direct family members.
